After returning home from an extended stay abroad, Diana (Zosia Mamet) searches for a new apartment in New York. With the help of her best friend and a determined real estate agent, she comes into an arrangement with a free-spirited widow who owns and lives in her own new apartment building. As Diana moves her belongings into the humble brownstone, she crosses paths with her ex-boyfriend Ben (Matthew Shear). Conversation soon reveals that he lives in the downstairs apartment with his new girlfriend. Rattled, Diana attempts to settle into a new routine stateside, landing a day job at a bridal boutique and spending her evenings nursing a struggling writing career. Yet she can’t shake persistent feelings of regret surrounding her coincidental new neighbor: The Boy Downstairs.
