The Team Unseen: NVFF’s Creative Partners

Each year, NVFF relies on the remarkable and enduring support of our creative partners to induce the magic of the Festival. From the event production and coverage to the beautiful photography and signage, the NVFF website, the annual Program Guide and marketing—all of it cannot be accomplished without these creative minds and dedicated men and women.

From the stunning graphics and signage to the gorgeous Program Guide you look forward to each year, Seattle-based design firm Cognition Studio has been a heroic partner to NVFF. Working on sharp deadlines with a small team of incredible individuals led by their fearless leader Kristine Johnson, they tell our brand’s story with a keen understanding of who we are and what the Festival means to our community. They are so much more than a design partner—they are a part of our family.

One of our most difficult pre-festival projects is assembling the annual Program Guide. With the creative direction of NVFF Co-Founder Marc Lhormer, Cognition’s team worked tirelessly to bring his vision to life on the page, and somehow manage to pack our entire festival into 208 beautiful pages. We cannot thank them enough for their design support and branding over the years, and the partnership we have forged.

Once Cognition has designed these beautiful pieces, it’s time to bring them to life. And that’s where Ana Field comes in. With a background in graphic and visual communication design, Ana has played a key role in NVFF’s signage and printing. She is a talented graphic designer and we are so lucky to have her on our seasonal team.

So now we have this festival—it’s alive and looking sharp! And yet, it would be but a memory if it weren’t for our photography team. At NVFF, the word ‘photography’ is synonymous with Bob McClenahan. Bob has been an incredible partner over the years, and is responsible for so many of our iconic pictures. When he isn’t capturing our best moments at the festival, he is quite literally “Napa’s Photographer”. We highly encourage you to check out his work.

Speaking of loyal and talented photographers, where would we be without Patrice Ward? Patrice has been with us for many years now, and much like Bob, is responsible for many of NVFF’s best photos.

We are also delighted to have young and incredibly talented photographers Mario Piombo and Vincent Piombo of Aperture Media + Design as a part of our coverage team. Mario was responsible for the improved planning and recruitment methods that went in to making this year a success. The rest of the Strategic Content Team (a micro team of savvy photographers) included John Vargas, Erika Cole, Hana Clark, Cielo De La Paz, Aurora Heitman, and John Klycinski.

And last but certainly not least, Davontea Norfleet. Davontea has served the Napa Valley Film Festival as our year-round lead ReelTalk photographer. You can see more of his work here.
