What makes the Napa Valley Film Festival so memorable? Hear it straight from the horse’s mouth. Each Tuesday we will add a new testimonial. If you’d like to see your name on this page email your testimonial(s) to contests@www.nvff.org.

“I had wanted to come for years and now plan to make it an annual event. We will be bringing friends. This year we were just feeling our way around. We expect that as we get more familiar with the area and the event we will take advantage of even more. Thank you again for a wonderful experience.”

-Dawn Bongiovanni, attendee from San Diego

“At the 2015 NVFF Gala night, just before the screening of Spotlight I ran into a man and his wife taking photos in front of the venue on the red carpet. I told the man I would be willing to take his photo for him and his wife. Later I came accross his profile on Instagram. Sure enough, the photo I took was posted on his page. I also came to find he wasn’t just any guy. He was James Bird. The award winning Director for Honeyglue. Small world.”

-John Orantes

“As a filmmaker you put many months into your film as relationships and friendships suffer. You lose yourself and wonder if it is all worth it. Working on a comedy, the jokes are no longer funny, the plot is no longer surprising, and you’re forced to trust your gut through periods of tortured insecurity. Having our film selected by the Napa Valley Film Festival began a sense of redemption for our hard work. The parties, the support, the wineries, the food – was all off the charts, and it culminated in a lavish dinner at Raymond Vineyards. On that night we had most of our cast there, and our loved ones. I’d never been in a more opulent environment, and after Jean-Charles spoke, we began taking turns speaking about what this meant to us. We became vulnerable, opened ourselves up to each other, and formed a lifelong bond – we became a family. That night I went to bed with contentment as an artist and as a human I haven’t felt in many years. It made it all worth it.”

-David Phillips, Producer, Moments of Clarity

“I’m standing in line to get food during the gala a couple of years ago. Chef Bob Hurley is serving up something delicious, and Kevin Costner is on one side of me and Mike Myers is on the other. Just, you know, two Hollywood superstars and a guy with a camera grabbing a bite to eat. It was very surreal.”

 -Bob McClenahan, Photographer

“The visit from Jimmy Baca [during the Filmmakers in the Schools program] was incredibly inspiring! Thank you and the Napa Valley Film Festival for this wonderful opportunity! This was another great year and experience for our program in partnering with the Napa Valley Film Festival. We truly value this partnership and each year you bring these great films and guest speakers. Film truly has a powerful impact on our youth and when they get to meet the director/actors of them it takes the experience to another level.  Again, a big thank you for the opportunity. Great work NVFF for another year of film and culture!”

-Carlos EC Hagedorn, Director and Co-Founder, Legacy Youth Project

“The kids, parents and I loved INSPIRE. The whole thing was well organized and well done – and I was surprised at how patient the students in the auditorium were as a group! Nothing but compliments from the parents. Thanks again!  It was really great for our St. Helena kids to see that movie and learn that story.”

-Pam Nadeau, St. Helena Unified

“We were so grateful having Pass Plus, and maximized the opportunity to see loads of movies, plus events! The volunteers were so helpful, and the caliber of films was better than ever. I heard from many filmmakers how accommodating the ‘Napa community’ was – made me very proud.”

-Karen Schuppert, Filmmaker Host

I can’t say enough about our experience with our guests, Mikel Horwitz (composer) and his girlfriend, Irina Bazik (who is a concert pianist). We fell in love with them – they were beyond delightful. In fact, they drove back up from Los Angeles in order to spend New Year’s with us (they stayed another 5 days!). I know we will be life-long friends. I couldn’t imagine a better match!

-Linda Goldfarb, Filmmaker Host

“What a fabulous week I had at NVFF. Truly a memorable film festival experience. I am your new biggest fan – you really know how to run a festival.”

-Robin Hauser Reynolds, CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap

“Mark your calendars: events to ensure the best fall ever – Napa Valley Film Festival… the winning combination of movies and wine attracts A-listers like Kevin Costner and Miles Teller.”

Travel + Leisure

“We are always happy to participate in the Napa Valley Film Festival. This year we saw an increase in sales from the festival. We definitely had a higher number of passholders come in then we saw the previous year.”
